The video recording of theater performances, concerts, readings, etc. is of course done with several cameras. The cameras are controlled in a variety of ways from just one central point. 5 and more cameras can be operated by a single person. Additional cameramen are not necessary.

Hard drives, USB sticks and memory cards don't last forever. The advantage of Blu-ray discs, DVDs and CDs is that they do not contain any electronic components.
